I recently watched a program on CNN about the terrorist activities present in Pakistan. Like always i am unable to control myself and decided to reply to that person. Lets see if they are brave enough to acknowledge the fact that their broadcast is based on racism.

Today on 7th July 7, 2007 , I watched a program on Cable News Network (CNN) named as Pakistan: The Threat Within. This program was simply baseless and based on a very biased point of view.I was sorry to watch such a disgraceful and malice program from a reputable news channel. The anchor of this documentary Mr. Nik Robertson did his level best to sketch an incorrect picture of Pakistanis and Pakistani government. He surely is a racist whose comments are unrealistic and derived from self assumed things. This whole of my reply is for that presenter and for those who think his documentary was based on facts.
To start with, answer this question, why should we support America and England in the war against terrorism? Those who are responsible for the attacks on 9/11 and 7/7 were not Pakistanis. They spent whole of their lives in so called CIVILIZED countries. Why Pakistan government should be held responsible for the safety of Americans and British citizens. The things which this war gave us are it made our society more rigid towards the west and couple of suicide attacks which were never present here before this ludicrous war imposed by USA .
The presenter claimed that Tanveer Shahzad, the prime suspect, got training in a Pakistani mudrassa (religious schools). I want to ask him(presenter) couple of questions. Firstly, who forced a 23 years old young British to come to Pakistan and joined a Madrassa??? Was he FORCED by Pakistanis??? He spent whole of his life in Britain before allegedly coming to Pakistan for training, how can he suddenly change his mind and become a terrorist when came to Pakistan? How can British prime minister blame Pakistan for the things done by citizens of his own country? Instead of blaming us (Pakistanis) for all the things happening in England your government should stop or at least keep a check on your own citizens. The education system in England is surely producing disturbed citizens who are involved in such activities, you people in England need to revise your own education system instead of advising us to change the Madrassa systems, to prove this fact , example of Tanveer is enough who got his education in British schools.
The presenter Nik Robertson showed some clips of students reciting Holy Quran in the Madrassas and in his comments he said that this is the only thing taught in madrassas and Holy Quran is responsible for the fundamentalist thinking of students. This is indeed the most ridiculous thing ever said on a TV channel. For his kind information I want to add that these schools have a proper course work for each grade and this course work includes subjects like science, mathematics, computer studies, English etc apart from the Holy Quran. If getting the education of religion is a crime then we are committing this criminal act. But please don’t blame our Holy Book for all the things which happened in your country. You can not do any harm to our religion with such reports, the only thing such documentaries do is that they spread hatred among your own citizens.
The anchor claimed that military training is a part and parcel of all the Madrassas just to put things right, there are approximately 100, 000 madrassas in Pakistan, and in a recent survey only 40 madrassas have been alleged of such things. You can not blame every madrassa for such things! Unfortunately the presenter tried his best to portray an ugly picture of these schools.
Some sad things are said about Pakistan army that they are supporting and training the Talibans. Just tell me one thing Mr. Robertson, who financed Taliban and Osama during 80’s and 90’s?? It was United Stated of America who formed such militant organizations and provided them weapons as well as money to fight against the Russians, now when they are killing Americans you are blaming Pak army for their training.
The presenter was unable to digest that Americans are losing this war against Terrorism in Afghanistan, so he started blaming us for all that is happening in Afghanistan. Wasn’t the American army the strongest and the most well equipped army in the world? Then why you want Pak army to fight the war in Afghanistan. Why don’t you put the American Army on Pak-Afghan border (on the Afghani side) and monitor the border. May be American army or British troops can stop the infiltration of militants from Pakistan as claimed by the report of your intelligence. That way you can fight the war against Talibans. I am sure you are going to lose it as you don’t know the root cause of all this conflict and the ground realties.
I don’t have any clue why this so called intelligence unit of CNN has problems with Pakistans Kashmir policy. Does it have anything to do with you war against terrorism? Even the USA secretary of states denied any links of Al-Qaeeda and Kashmiri Mujahids. I don’t know what Pakistanis had done to that presenter he seems to attach every thing happened in USA and England with Pakistan, without any proof. Why everything said against Pakistan sound more pleasant to him. Doesn’t he sound like an extremist?
Please stop being lame and blaming us for all the things. Try to fight this war in your own countries, seal your own borders, and stop the terrorists from entering your borders instead of poking your nose in our affairs. The real documentary should sounds like Britain: The Threat Within. All I can say is Shame on CNN and shame on that presenting team. You people don’t understand our culture and traditions. You people don’t understand the root cause why every Pakistani is against the policies of USA and England, yet you want every Pakistani on your side.
Well said! The world media seems to think that no one will question what they report; yet there are people out there, like us, that refute and correct media statements regularly. This CNN docu-drama was nothing more than an attempt to paint Pakistan and President Musharraf as a friend of the terrorists, while interviewing terrorists to support their theory.
If you get a chance stop by my blog and read the analysis that I did on the same program:
